Reflections

The Damage Control Group

A foolish enterprise started by an ignorant in a time before 9-11

If you’ve heard the song “I wish I was Born a Punk Rocker………….” you’ll understand the zeitgeist of hoping to change the world, and how it has succumbed to the behemoth of human greed, bureaucracy and populism for many. Well the DCG was inspired by the same spirit that the song talks about, the naïve belief you can change the world with words and effort. Before the terror, the war, the us and them, the with me or against me madness that has cost the lives of so many in Iraq on both sides, or the resurgence of the Taliban, which we knew nothing of, in Afghanistan.

It was an idea of using advertising to make people think. Simple words, covering topics common to us all, but in their simplification of the issue, hoping to provoke a response, any response, to make people think.

What the hell was I thinking?

With more organisation, more dedication, and whole lot more funds and professionalism maybe, just maybe, we might have had some minor effect.

But that is past.

The truth is a virus.
The world is growing immune.
